Altaf is a multi-disciplinary percussionist, musical director, rhythm arranger producer and educator.

 

Altaf, born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, began his music career in the

vibrant mid-seventies music scene in Nairobi, performing as a drummer, percussionist and fire dancer. Altaf has lived and worked in Germany,

USA and Canada since leaving Nairobi in the eighties.

 

Altaf is fluent playing drumset and percussion in various styles: R&B, Rock, Pop, Jazzfunk, Disco, Reggae, Latin, Brazilian, African and Worldbeat Music. Altaf tours internationally performing at major festivals, clubs and

concert venues. He is also an experienced studio musician.

 

Altaf's teaching method connects the student to the music of drumming.

He has also developed a hand drum teaching repertoire of rhythms of

Africa and the Diaspora for one drum.

 

Altaf is an experienced musical director, band leader and producer.
